Fakes about recruiting French people for war in Ukraine spread in French-language social networks
Over the past week, propagandists have spread two video fakes “promoting” joining the International Legion for Defense of Ukraine
Against the backdrop of statements by French President Emmanuel Macron that sending French troops to Ukraine in the future cannot be ruled out, Russian propaganda has spread two video fakes about the alleged appeals to French people to join the International Legion for Defence of Ukraine.
The first video, distributed in Russian and pro-Russian English-language media, as well as in the French-language segment of Telegram and X social network, addresses representatives of the French Foreign Legion. The video has watermarks with the symbols of the Special Forces Brigade Azov, and the authors of the publications claim that the video was allegedly created by the PR team of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.

A German-language Russian media outlet, English-language bots on social media platforms X, TikTok, pro-war Russian Telegram channels, as well as Russian-language resources that pretend to be "Ukrainian," are distributing videos from the streets of Berlin and photos taken from them. In the videos, allegedly glued posters can be seen with a caricature of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the word "give" in different languages.

The International Legion for the Defense of Ukraine, in which foreign volunteer fighters help the Ukrainians repel Russian aggression, has been troubling Kremlin propagandists since its inception. Ukrinform has repeatedly written about Russian disinformation campaigns aimed at demonizing this armed formation within the Ukrainian Armed Forces and disrupting further recruitment of legionnaires.

On March 22, a terrorist attack occurred at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region, killing 137 people, according to the latest figures. Russian propaganda used it to once again defame Ukraine. Trying to find a Ukrainian trace, propagandists immediately began creating fakes. The main narrative is that Ukraine was involved in the attack.
According to a fake news story being spread by them on social media platform X, the suspects in the Moscow terrorist attack have been identified as Ukrainian citizens who were allegedly hired by the state using American taxpayer money. The propagandists distribute photos of four Ukrainian passports as supposed evidence. One shows the name Tsiezar Yulii-Halarirohailalirozr Illich and the other shows Malukha Mykola Valeriyovych. The remaining two photos are of low quality and the names cannot be read.
