Death toll in Russian attack on Kyiv rises to 15, with 56 injured
The number of people killed in Russia’s massive attack on Kyiv has risen to 15, with 56 people injured, including seven children.
The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the hardest-hit areas were the Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts, while damage was also recorded in the Holosiivskyi and Obolonskyi districts.
In the Podilskyi district, apartments from the 5th to the 9th floors of one residential building were destroyed.
In the Darnytskyi district, a fire broke out and apartments from the 2nd to the 5th floors of a 25-story building were destroyed. In another residential complex in the same district, apartments in a 30-story building were also damaged by fire following debris impact.
Air defense downs 37 Russian missiles and 326 drones
In total, the Air Force’s electronic warfare units detected 419 air attack weapons—68 missiles and 351 UAVs:
6 3M22 “Zircon”/“Onyx” anti-ship missiles (launch sites—Kursk Oblast);
23 “Iskander-M”/S-400 ballistic missiles (launch areas: Bryansk, Oryol, and Kursk regions);
33 Kh-101 cruise missiles (launch area: Vologda region);
6 “Kalibr” cruise missiles (launch area: Novorossiysk);
351 Shahed, “Gerbera,” and “Italmas” strike UAVs, as well as “Parody” decoy drones (from the following directions: Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), and the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk).
The air attack was repelled by the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, air defense forces shot down or neutralized 363 targets—37 missiles and 326 drones:
31 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
6 “Kalibr” cruise missiles;
326 drones.
According to preliminary information, as of 8:30 a.m., 29 ballistic (including anti-ship) missiles and 18 attack UAVs were recorded as having struck 34 locations, and debris from downed UAVs was found at 16 locations.

Following the overnight attack, President Volodymyr Zelensky noted positive results in shooting down drones and cruise missiles, but not ballistic missiles. He expressed hope that the NATO summit in Ankara would yield “strong decisions in support of our air defense.”

Four crew members of a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter were killed on June 30, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission to intercept Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.
Those who fought their final battle were: the crew commander, Captain Yurii Voron; the pilot-navigator, Major Valentin Mukshinov; the flight engineer, Senior Lieutenant Bohdan Khmil; and the gunner, Junior Sergeant Mykhailo Deriaha.
“They fulfilled their military duty to the very end, defending the Ukrainian skies, providing cover for our infantry, supporting combat units, and saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers,” the Brody City Council emphasized.
