Ukraine to open arms exports in coming days – Fedorov
Ukraine will open arms exports in the coming days, with all necessary regulatory decisions already prepared, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said.
“As the president announced regarding the opening of exports, it will be opened soon. You cannot even imagine how soon. All requirements for launching exports have already been finalized,” Fedorov said.
He added that details will be announced in the coming days, along with the adoption of the necessary regulatory act.
Fedorov expressed hope that opening exports will allow Ukraine to become a significant player in the global defense technology market and help domestic manufacturers scale up their developments.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that arms exports should become a long-term source of economic strength for Ukraine.
Ukraine strikes Russian Roscosmos-linked research institute in Penza region
Ukrainian forces have struck a major Russian enterprise in the Penza region that is linked to the country’s space, aviation, and military instrumentation industries.
On the night of June 30 to July 1, Ukrainian forces targeted JSC Research Institute of Physical Measurements in Russia’s Penza region.
The General Staff reported confirmed hits and smoke at the site.
The institute is a leading Russian enterprise in space, aviation, and military instrumentation. It is part of the Russian Space Systems, a holding that belongs to the state corporation Roscosmos. It produces sensors for cruise and ballistic missiles such as Iskander, Kalibr, and Kh-101, components for aircraft systems including Su-34, Su-35, and Tu-95MS, as well as equipment for military space systems, including reconnaissance satellites.

Ukraine testing laser air defense, expanding Shahed interceptions, developing new defense technologies – Fedorov
Ukraine is testing laser-based air defense systems, ramping up production of low-cost interceptor missiles, and expanding the combat use of drones, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said.
According to the minister, Ukrainian specialists have already obtained the first results from tests of laser air defense systems.
“We are already testing a laser system and have achieved certain results. We are not disclosing many details yet, but work in this area is progressing actively,” Fedorov said.
He also said that in May, Ukrainian interceptor drones shot down nearly 7,000 Russian Shahed and Gerbera drones.
In addition, during one of the most recent large-scale Russian attacks, interceptor drones accounted for the destruction of about 75% of the attacking UAVs, he said.
Fedorov added that the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has launched a procurement tender for an additional 150,000 drones, some of which belong to the middle-strike class.
Another priority, he said, is the development of low-cost cruise missiles incorporating artificial intelligence technologies.
“It may sound like a futuristic project today, but in a year, it will no longer be news. We will continue working on it,” the minister said.

SBU detains Russian agent who tracked Ukrainian air defenses in Odesa region
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed and detained an agent of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) who was gathering intelligence on the locations of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in Odesa and the Odesa region on behalf of Russia.
The investigation established that the suspect is a local resident who came to the attention of the FSB through his own posts on Telegram channels expressing support for the Kremlin regime and Russian armed groups.
Investigators documented that the agent monitored the locations of Ukrainian forces’ facilities that the Russian military intended to target in combined missile and drone strikes.
According to the SBU, Russia was particularly interested in the positions of Ukraine’s air defense systems and the locations of Armed Forces logistics warehouses in the country’s south.
To conduct surveillance and gather intelligence on military sites, the suspect drove around the area in his car. After each reconnaissance trip, he reported his findings to his Russian handler via a messaging app and then deleted the correspondence.
“To provoke panic among local residents and destabilize the socio-political situation in the city and the region, the suspect proposed to his handler that he be supplied with firearms,” the SBU said.
The suspect also provided a Russian intelligence officer with personal information about a local council member and a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine, whom he knew personally, identifying them as potential assassination targets.
The SBU said its officers uncovered the enemy’s plans in advance and detained the agent. During searches, investigators seized three smartphones containing evidence of his cooperation with the FSB.
